Nursing Care Robot Promotion Project

In Japan, the nursing care industry is chronically understaffed. At the same time, Japan has one of the fastest aging populations and lowest birthrates in the world. The segment of the population over 65 is expected to be over 40 percent by 2045, which is currently a little over 23 percent.

In order to prepare for such upcoming problems as labor shortage of caregivers, Kanagawa Welfare Association has been working on the Nursing-care Robot Promotion Project ("the Robot Project").  The project is sponsored by the Kanagawa Prefectural Government.

Kanagawa is one of Japan’s 47 prefectures, located in south of Tokyo. It’s a part of Greater Tokyo Area with population of over 9 million.

Yes, Japan has the one of the fastest aging populations, in which any country has never experienced.

To overcome upcoming problems and explore our bright future, utilizing robot as an alternative way is challenging to us.

We believe that challenge will brighten our prospects in not only Japan but also the rest of the world.
